The E. coli transcription/translation system produces proteins from a T7 RNA polymerase promoter. Reactions consist of a bacterial cell lysate and a reagent mix that contain all components required for protein production; the user must simply provide a DNA template that encodes the protein of interest under control of a T7 promoter. The system is easy-to-use, produces protein within a few hours, and is compatible with high-throughput liquid handling and automation platforms. Protein yield and function can be evaluated in solution or following purification. The 1 mL kit enables user to run 50 reactions of 20 µL, or user can scale reaction volumes to their own specifications. Storage at -80° C. For research use only.

The comet assay, or single cell gel electrophoresis assay (SCGE), is a common technique for measurement of DNA damage in individual cells. Under an electrophoretic field, damaged cellular DNA (containing fragments and strand breaks) is separated from intact DNA, yielding a classic “comet tail” shape under the microscope. The extent of DNA damage is usually visually estimated by comet tail measurement; however, image analysis software is also available for measuring various parameters. The OxiSelect™ Comet Assay is a fast and sensitive kit for the measurement of cellular DNA damage. Each kit provides sufficient reagents to perform up to 96 assays (one slide with 96 wells).

Blyscan Glycosaminoglycan Assay is a quantitative colorimetric dye-binding method for analysis of sulfated proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans (sGAG). It can be used to measure total sGAG content and can also to determine the O- and N-sulfated GAG ratio within test samples. The assay uses 1,9-dimethylmethylene blue dye employed under conditions that provide a specific label for the sulfated polysaccharide component of proteoglycans or the protein free sulfated glycosaminoglycan chains. APPLICATIONS: Cell culture derived material, soluble sGAGs from fluids (ex. synovial fluid, urine), fibrous and hyaline cartilages, tissues (ex. arteries, heart, lung, skin, tumors). Soluble sGAGs may be assayed directly, solid materials will require a preliminary papain extraction.
